For all the high end makeup I have stashed away in my drawers, it’s amazing how I keep coming back to Colourpop. I can’t get over what a doggone bargain it is for the quality. I thought I had every conceivable product I could need from the brand, but that I realized that that was ridiculous! I have a deep seeded unhealthy addiction that I need to uphold. Nah, but seriously, I was watching Kathleen Lights’ recent Colourpop favourites video and there were some beauties that caught me eye. So, you guessed it, I placed an order.
The first thing I went for were some shadows because I already know that they’re phenomenal quality. Just in case anyone missed the memo, they’re super long wearing, because they set down and the pigmentation is bomb. It’s worth noting however, that they’re not the easiest to blend, so I tend to use traditional powder formulas as transition shades. I went for a rose gold/red theme with my choices (with the exception of Rex) because… you know… that shit be on trend. Catch me outside, how bout dat.
I also ordered a few different eye liners, Overboard, DTLA, Brew-HaHa and Exit. People absolutely rave about the formula. I have to say that I wasn’t blown away by them. I didn’t feel like they were easy to blend or smudge out, nor were they particularly long lasting on the waterline. The colour range is awesome though. They carry some lovely, unique shades.
Finally I grabbed one of the Lippie Stix in Chateau. I haven’t tried that yet, but I have tried the Ultra Satin Lip in Littlestitious. What is with that name? What reference am I missing here? The formula is grand. It’s reminiscent of the new Marc Jacobs liquid lips – a comfortable, pigmented, satin finish with great wear time. I was way more into the satin formula than the matte version. Has anyone tried the matte formula that liked it? I’d be curious to know if it depends on the shades or if they’re all super dry and flaky.
